SignA is a european band. Born somewhere between Milan and Dublin in 2008, it moves its first steps very soon, towards a very peculiar sound. Its first attempt is to produce music which stands in between folk and electronic music.
The result is an EP, self-released in 2009, which contained four songs inspired by british songwriters’ tradition and german electronic music; the music is described by the audience as “a rave-party in Nick Drake’s room”.
After a few months of break, during which SignA performs some experimental gigs in Dublin, they have decided to go back to the studio to follow the consequential inspiration.
The result is “Waltzes for lilliputians”. The record has been written, arranged and recorded in the span of three weeks in an empty house in the heart of Tuscany – Italy, where the isolation from the rest of the world helped the band developing their original sound, while the compositions changed from the longer, more open forms of the previous EP, to more formal and recognizable structures.
The record passed through several stage of mixing, until its content has been performed live during the month of august, experience that allowed SignA to move forward and be able to put the word ‘end’ on the work.
Waltzes for lilliputians will be available from 2012 spring (Magmatiq Records).
Hope you will enjoy.
